  • Jacobs bailiffs Business rates

    Hi
I hope somebody can help me. I owed £614 busines rates and last Wednesday a bailiff from Jacobs called asking for £932.68 I asked how the debt had risen so much and he said he was entitled to add fees.
He gave me until 11th July to pay full amount, he handed me a notice which said REMOVAL 24 HOURS.
This was his first visit, I have not received any other notices from Jacobs either hand written or by post.
I was dvised by National debtline to pay the £614 to Council otherwise Jacobs would take their fees first, Idid this on line then e-mailed council to ask them to let Jacobs know I also complained about the fees. i ALSO E-MAILED jACOBS ASKING FOR A BREAKDOWN OF FEES.
i LEFT A MESSAGE ON THE PHONE NUMBER LEFT BY BAILIFF TO TELL HIM DEBT HAD BEEN PAID.
Today (Sunday) I received a phone call from bailliff asking how much I had paid council when I told him he said unless I paid fees in full he will call tomorrow to remove goods, he was really bombastic.
I ask for an explanation of fees and he said levy fee and attendance with a van, (£200)I pointed out he wasn't in a van at this point he was really shouting I asked excactly when he had levied he said in Wednesday (his first visit) I asked what had he levied on he said BMW outside shop I pointed out this was not mine.
He calmed down then and said if I phone tomorrow he will try to have fees lowered.
Can anybody advise if bailiff can still remove goods for payment of his extortionate fees, and is he allowed to levy and attend with a van on same day?
