  • Equita harassment!

    Hi!
To cut a long story short, my husband got a parking ticket 2 years ago which he forgot to pay, then earlier this year he receives a letter from Equita stating that they have a warrant and require the sum of £93.44 plus statutory fees of £11.20.
I immediately went on line and paid the £93.44. (This was in March of this year)
Since paying I have received at least half a dozen letter saying that a bailiff is going to call to seize the vehicle.
I have written to Equita and e mailed them on several occasions now, but they constantly ignore all communication. I refuse to ring them up!
I have even tried writing to the council who issued the original fine, but they replied back to tell me they would not contact Equita and I was to deal with Equitq directly!
I am aware that there is an amount of £11.20 of statutory fees, but I am really unwilling to pay this to this bunch of robbing b******ds!
Any advise would be much appreciated!

    Kind regards,

    Royalie.

    Hi and welcome to LB

I'm sure someone with more experience will post up soon with some helpful advice for you.

Maybe you should go straight to the top with this now.
Have you kept copies of all your letters and details of all your contacts as well?

    Came across this whilst searching.

Yes, Kept copies of letters, e mails and receipts for payment. I was considering threatening them with legal action, as they are so fond of threatening me!

You could try by emailing those names I posted above, and maybe "just a thought", contact your local trading standards or Citizens Advice and ask if they can contact them on your behalf as well, as your trying to deal with matters but are not getting anywhere.

The £11.20 is their letter fee and since they did write to you, the fee is due.

Have a read of this Parking Fine Guide - Legal Beagles Consumer Forum.

But to be perfectly honest, the fee is due, as they have actually written to you.

Thanks, but surely they don't have the right to say that they are still going to seize the vehicle for an outstanding letter fee?

Bailiffs lie, it's what they do.

Is that why bailiffs' wives are so bad at parking?

I'd be amazed if they managed to get a woman to go anywhere near them voluntarily. Quite a lot of males have that gift.

No - I meant those who married before they became bailiffs.

They've convinced their wives that ------------------------------------------------ is really six inches.
