    Hi,
Found this forum excellent when I had issues over bank charges couple of years ago. Amy in particular! I have a situation now where I had a "crash" in my car, where some jerk who is known locally for being a rogue, slammed his brakes on which lead to me going into the back of his car. No damage to his car, mine was written off, yet I am the one who has has suffered points on my licence and a fine. I have paid the fine payments monthly yet failed to pay last 2 payments due to my neglect of the situation due to personal circumstances. Hence a visit and letter from swift baliffs. My balance with no previous letter(which they have charged me for £85) has gone from£124 to £404 with one visit and a letter through the door! Where do i stand in this situation? I have emailed them and explained I owe £124 but they have replied saying they have charged £195 for visit and £85 for the letter that he put through the door? Do they have the right to enter my property? I ask as I am in the process of becoming bankrupt, I am yet to sign on dotted line but am a week away at most from agreeing bankrupcy. So stressed, completely shattered, have not slept in ages...please advise as soon as you can manage!

    Many Thanks, Lucky30

    H Amy,

Have you read our bailiff guide http://www.legalbeagles.info/forums/...splay.php?f=76

This debt is as important as your mortgage or rent and council tax.

Unfortunately, they do have the right to enter your property, but is important to bear in mind that this is very, very rare.

Are you aware that this fine will not be included in your bankruptcy?

Hi Amy, Totally unaware of anything to do with it all! Ive had such a crap time over last two years and this has topped it off! I have a meeting with cab next week and Im in process of getting all my details together for them to look at. What should I do now? I've no disposable money until next weds when I get paid. I am really quite scared as Im on my own with two children! Can you give me some guidance please? Cant believe they can turn a £124 debt into £400!

      Many Thanks, luckyamy30

Can you pay the arrears off when you get paid?

How much have you paid and how much is left to pay?

I've paid £275 off my fine and was £124 left, rest of amount is baliff costs. I can probably manage £200 this month and then next?

Okay, now can I pay the fine amount of £124 to the court? Then dispute baliff charges? Or am I forced to pay them?
                ------------------------------- merged -------------------------------
Would it register if I payed the court the fine money? Would swift still chase me?

My huge concern initially is where I stand on not letting them in? Will they force their way in?

                    Re: lucky30

They cannot force their way into your property without a warrant from the court giving its expression permission and they are unlikely to get this, should they actually apply for one, which is highly unlikely given the small amount you owe.

                      Hi Amy,

I've paid £200 from my £404 which I have informed them I will pay 18th June when I get paid again. Do you think they will visit again now I have done this? Cant afford more fees or I'll be paying forever! Did I do the right thing/

                      Cheers x
