Hi I wonder if any one can help me? I got into difficulties paying council tax and subsequently found myself dealing with a company called Rossendales. I sent them an income and expenditure letter and got a reply telling me that as far as they were concerned I could afford to send them £200 per month. I have had to resort to taking out payday loans to cover these payments and found myself missing this months payment. I emailed them straight away and have spent the last four days frantically trying to find the money from somewhere only to have them tell me they have sent the accounts back to the client. I googles to see what happens next andgot in touch with the council but am now terrified I am going to prison. Help!

Re: Council tax arrears - Bailiffs say they have handed account back to client
No, you won't go to prison for missing one payment. In fact you cannot be sent to prison for being unable to pay, this is reserved for those who refuse to pay. So don't worry.
If Rossendales have returned the account to the council, then you're laughing. This is the number one objective with council tax debt. So this is a good thing, not a bad thing.
How many liability orders do you have and how much do you owe? By this, I mean, how much in actual council tax do you owe rather than how much the bailiffs say you owe?
