  • non domestic rates

Can any one help,i have a pub and as such the doors are open,i recived a visit from Rossendales regarding a unpaid non domestic rates for a previous pub that i was manager of, to the tune of £3273,00,i told the man ,that it was not my bill and he should see the chap that was the lease holder,he replied that the court had made me half liable for the outsanding amount of some £600,00.
He said he would return and if i did not pay him he would take goods etc,i then told him that the goods in the pub where brewery owned and that i had nothing expect my clothes.
I phoned Rossendales and asked if i could make an arrangment to pay by instalments, but they said that i had to speak directly with the bailiff, which i did and he said i had to pay £285,00 per week and that was the only deal he would do ,i said that i could not afford that amount a week and offered £100 which he refused,
i made one payment, but just could not afford any more.
Then after six or more months ,a new bailiff turned up,walked in and told me that i had to pay the full amount with in 24 hours or he would take goods i explained that i had nothing of value ,he said he would clamp my old car, then have it taken away,i told him that he could not do that as i needed for my business,i then asked if i could pay by installments ,he said no its the full amount by this Friday,or he will be back to seize goods.
I have phoned the council asking them to take the debt back and set up a payment plan that is affordable, they as normal did not want to help,so i dont know what to do,as no one is prepared to cut some slack and find a reasonable end to this.

Mr bailiff has not been in my living accomadation and that is kept locked all the time, the only thing is my car, but if thats kept on the pubs car park can he touch it?
as its not a public road.

    Re: non domestic rates

if the value of your car would cover all bailiff fees

    as in
    1st visit
    2nd visit
    levy
    van/attendance
    removal
    storage
    auction fees
and a portion of the liability order and is not on finance/HP and does not have business insurance then yes he can
if the value when sold at auction would not cover all the above fees then no they cant
