i am a single mum on benefits and have had desperate financial issues for the past 2 years as i have had no payments from my 2 childrens father, i am now in debt with a baillieff for £280, of which he demands a weekly payment of £50, which i simply can not afford, i am now being threatened with them coming to my rented home to take what goods i have, i have tried desperatly to be reasonable and offered other payments but this guy is very demanding and wont budge, i am very desperate and would welcome any advice, i have tried 3 times to ring the bailieffs debt company to try and resolve it to, but all they do is take my number and never get back, thanks for listening x

hi, thanks for replying, no they havent been in my property yet, ive had the threatening letters and ive tried to phone and reason, but its there way or no way, i just dont know what to do xxxComment

i just read the above bailiff guide and it says that with parking fines they can break into my property, im soo frightened, im willing to pay, i just cannot meet his demands of £50 per week, i dont know what to do xComment

It depends on who gave you the fine.
Most councils now operate Decriminalised Parking Enforcement, which means the council itself will be responsible for enforcing the parking regulations rather than the police.
If this is the case with you, then no, they cannot break in because it is now not a criminal offence.

hi amy, finally found the origional letter and its from the council, so does that mean the bailiff cannot break into my home, do you have any advice on where i can go from here to make reasonable payments, as the bailiff and his debt collecting company will not help me at all, they are demanding £50 per week, and as i mentioned before i am a single mum of 2 on benefits i simply cannot afford any where near that much per week, thank you for your help so far, xxComment

hi amy, i checked the paper work and it was basildon council that sent me the origional fine, i dont know if you can help with what i can do next as the bailiff and debt collection agency wont budge on the £50 per week whick i simply cannot afford, thank you for your help so far , anna xComment

Believe me, if it wasn't for Amy's help I'd probably be locked up by now for either going insane or hurting someone!Comment
