Marstons threats

Hi all, i need some helpwith these vultures. I was fined 200 for not having a tv licence and never got round to paying it. I had a letter from marstons saying they now have the account and charged me 75 for sending the letter, last week they visited my property and added another 200 for the pleasure.

If i tell them that everything in the house belongs to my fiancee can they remove anything ?

I would like to go back to court to sort this out but after ringing the court they said it is now in the hands of Marston and cannot arrange for me to return to court.

Any help of advice is greatly appreciated.

I believe that with bailiffs the onus is on you to prove the goods belong to her, rather than on them to prove they belong to you. Receipts for anything of significant worth would help if they were paid on her card, or the easiest thing is to spend £10ish and go to a local solicitors to get a sworn declaration that everything in the house belongs to her.

Wait for confirmation of this before you run off and do it, but I think that's a possible way forward for you.

Unfortunately for you, since this is a magistrate court fine, it is not safe to deny the bailiffs access - all as per the bailiff guide Bailiff Guide - Legal Beagles Consumer Forum

As for the charges, what are they actually charging you £200 x 2 for? If you don't know what these charges relate to, then perhaps you should ask them and you can find details on how to do this in the bailiff guide link above.

Caspar is correct and you could swear an oath that none of the goods in the property belong to you. However, you need to be aware that making a false declaration is a criminal offence.

Have you made any payments toward this debt yet? Have you purchased a TV licence?
