    what about "charges" from the bailiff?? am i liable to pay any, I don't think they have added any at the moment, but on the letter i received he has circled "plus costs" in red marker pen!

      From what you have said here, he has not visited you, so he cannot charge you for any visits if he has not made any.

          Yes, but it is not sufficient for him to push a letter through your door and say he's visited you. He must knock on your door and attempt to gain payment.

          The maximum he can charge for these visits is £42.50.

            As Amy says, make the payments online and they won't refuse them - just make sure you keep paying them.

            Amy, for my own knowledge, once she's paying online is it worth her pointing out to the council that they're accepting her payments, she is showing good intent by paying, so as they are vicariously liable could they call the bailiffs off as obviously if they call, it will inhibit her ability to pay off the debt asap? (I hate you! I check every post to you about five times now for typos lol!!!!!)

              alice listen to what amy and casper say i am going through the same thing as you i am making payments to council on line they are taking my payments and taking it off the debt donot let the ballifs in dont answer the door at all just igore thrm turned up to my property in a van

                  hi casper im doing good no more visits yet so far im sure expecting another visit soon been a week today any friends that visut it me phone me first but i still have had no replys to the letters i send the council but they are talking my payments

                    If you make regular payments to the council, online or VIA a payplan card. Keep Receipts.
                    Then you'll need to write to the chief executive to make a formal complaint. If u don't like the councils conclusion make a complaint to LGO.
                    I've just had the same problem with Jacobs. LGO are looking into it.
