  • Demands for someone not at our address

    Hi guys,

We have had several letters which have Philips contact info on them, addressed to 2 people who have never lived at our property (rented) but have been ignoring them. One arrived recently open so we had a look. It is a demand for payment from Philips for about £2000 with the old 'execute further recovery procedures' line.

Obviously we dont want these guys trying to take anything from our house as the debt has nothing to do with us, so I was wondering what the best course of action would be? Would writing to them explaining the above make a difference?

Thanks in advance for any replies!

    Simples really.
Just return them unopened with the usual Not known At This Address.

Philips letter can seem quite frightening, but they are simply acting as a tertiary DCA in this case and normally as an agent for another DCA. With all that in mind they will NOT be sending someone round as they have no legal powers at all.
