A bailiff called at my house today - I was at work - It is regarding a debt for my son who is unemployed. No one was at home but he called next door to confirm that my son lived at this address and explained who he was and why he was calling at our house. I telephoned the bailiff as he left a notification at our house. The original debt is for a £30 parking fine. It is now £669.00. My son has just returned from rehab and I informed the bailiff's company last year that he was in rehab - he claims benefit. I gave them the rehab address but continued to call at our house, insisting that they could not take my word for this, hence the increase in the debt. Today when I telephoned the bailiff he said he could clamp any car in the driveway and have it removed and it was up to me to prove that it did not belong to my son - not for him to prove it did. Can he do this? He said he would clamp and remove when we were out.

This part is true, it is up to you to prove the car or cars is/are yours or rather, that none of them belong to your son.
