  • Equita & Parking Fine

I'm currently being threatened with enforcement over a parking ticket issued over a year ago and afterwards disputed by letter because it shouldn't have been given
    in the first place.

Original fine was for £70. Equita last week issued an Enforcement Notice. I rang number given and obviously got through to Bailiffs "out on the job" somewhere. Person to whom I spoke informed me charges would now be £391.06!
I queried this naturally and, explaining I was a single
pensioner, they reluctantly agreed I could pay the sum in
two halves over a period of three weeks which is still quite
impossible for me I'm afraid in my circumstances.

Is there any way I could have this set aside, or even re-
arranged to more favourable terms. It's all so unfair and undoubtedly yet another loophole in the law which allows these people to use their bully-boy tactics to either extort money for themselves and take goods far in excess of original debt they are supposed to be collecting from people's homes.

In the current financial climate, no wonder their business is booming especially if they are allowed free reign to prey on the weakest!

Why do you believe the fine should not have been given? Did you only dispute by letter? Did you receive a reply?

If you could give us some background information then this will help. As for their charges I would send them a Subject Access Request which will enable you to ascertain how they have managed to get a total of £391.06.

Have a read of the bailiff guide, you will also find a link to a SAR within this that you will need to edit to suit.
