Hi all.
to cut a long story a bit shorter, My partner and I made an agreement to pay Rossendales £10 per fortnight (we are on jobseekers allowance since my partner was made redundant) for a council tax debt as the council refused to take it back. I have been ill recently, and forgot to go and make the payment last week, so yesterday I paid £20 hoping this would put us back on track.
This morning I recieved a letter saying:
we note from our records that we agreed to accept installments and you have failed to adhere to the arrangement. As you are in default it is now proposed to remove your goods for sale at auction. Therefore we require an immediate payment of £300. If you are unable to make this payment pleas contact us on .....
The cost of a van attending will be a minimum of £110.00 and you will be liable for this additional fee.
I called them as soon as possible, and they say they can't reset the payment plan as we have defaulted before (which we haven't).
Can anyone tell me where we stand please? We cannot afford to pay it all in one go.
Just to add, we have never let the bailiff into the house.
