Bailiff charged £120+vat for 'waiting'

Hi

I have just received my SAR response from my local authority and discovered that the Rossendales bailiff had charged a fee of £60.00 + vat for 'waiting' for one hour since he was unable to gain access to my home on his second visit, which then escalated to £120 + vat without any reference as to why it had increased.

Can the bailiff charge me for waiting?

What kind of debt are Rossendales collecting?

It is council tax.

This is fraud. Plain and simple.

First, they are not permitted in law to charge a "waiting fee" of any description and second, they are not allowed to charge VAT when collecting council tax.
