Proposed new powers for bailiffs to handcuff householders

Hello

I have been informed that new powers will be given to bailiffs, in pursuit of council tax debt, to restrain and indeed handcuff householders.

Can anyone elaborate on this please?

Tribunals, Courts and Enforcement Act 2007 (c. 15)

The proposed extension to bailiffs' powers contained within this Act, which include rights of entry and use of force, has not come into force.

Part 4 of the above Act, which covers attachment of earnings and charging orders, etc., also has not come into force.

Restraint. Now there's a minefield!! Are they going to send them all on A PMVA course (Prevention and Management of Violence and Aggression) A very involved course that points out the many dangers of restraining people and the injuries or worse that can follow.

The Government says the new powers when they are triggered will be overseen by a "robust industry watchdog"

The telegraph are really crap at comedy.
