well, i av a update since i was last here. Despite hiding my car from jacob bailiff, last night i had no choice but to park it in my drive. I got up this morning 2 a lovely yellow clamp around it`s wheel. When he came back 2 hours earlier than stated on his letter, my ex-husband phoned me (who came to sit in the house with my daughter while i went into work), the bailiff was so arrogant, i think i`d faced him, i would of had to hit him, and i know that would`nt do anything 4 me, the cheeky, stuttering, foreign sounding person hung up on me. After phoning his head office, the woman checked the hpi register, only to find that my car was still being financed, which is what i told the bailiff. he threatened to removed it anyway. according to her, i should get a apology for his attitude, and he should`nt of refused the offer of £250. am now waiting for the fool to come back and removed the clamp as he clamped the car illegally. this may b a victory for the single mum, however, i will keep u all informed shortly.

Re: jacobs
the update so far is, mr. hitler is refusing to remove the clamp due to not being in the area, even though, he`d be quick enough to come for payment. his head office has told him the clamp should be removed. but there are no managers in the office over a weekend to oversee this is done, he`s playing awkward again!!!! have got a grinder, now the question is....should i or should'nt i???? does anyone know the penalty of grinding the stupid thing off?

Re: jacobs
DO NOT use this grinder on the clamp as that would be considered CRIMINAL damage and even more trouble.
It is easy to remove a clamp, BUT you need to have a spare tyre available.
You jack up the car, deflate the clamped tyre and after a while it will be possible to move the clamp enough to remove the wheel.
Then replace with spare and job done..

Re: jacobs
Keep it in the house for safe keeping and each time he comes to collect it "you are busy, or not in the area"Any opinions I give are my own. Any advice I give is without liability. If you are unsure, please seek qualified legal advice.

Re: jacobs
thankyou all so much for the advise you have given me. The car is now parked at my daughter`s, it`s around the corner, a little inconvenient for me, but it`s safe at the moment. the bailiff came back yesterday while i was at work, he had the cheek to tell my neighbour he`ll be back later after school. however, he did`nt come back, i know his visit is due though. just out of curiosity, can they harass me at work? i use the car for that purpose, but i keep checking on it, as it is parked close to the staff room. it`s a new job, so the boss would erupt in a blue flame with me if i took my problems there with me.

Re: jacobs
If, as you said, the vehicle is financed then the bailiff cannot touch it.
Have you considered making a full complaint against him? He will doubtless have added fees on for this despite the fact the levy is irregular. Do you know how much you owe? Or rather, how much he says you owe?

Re: jacobs
did`nt know i could complain about him, but now i know i`ll set that in motion, thankyou. the bill was for £280, with his charges added it`s boosted it upto £568. i have since had a amended bill stating the bill has been lowered by £100. the cheek of this man!!! thankyou amy, you have been a great help to me.

Re: jacobs
Also, if he informed your neighbour of the reason for his visit he is acting in a way that could cause embarrassment to you and a breach of privacy, this in itself is something to add to your complaintAny opinions I give are my own.
