  • Issue about partners car

    Hi

I've been visted to day by an extortionist, sorry I mean bailiff and was informed that as my partner and I had been living together for a while and as she had a debt related tpo a parking ticket he could sieze my car instead.
Seems a bit OTT a 7,000 car for a £30 parking fine, there were a number of issues with his manner etc. but the key point was is he correct about taking my car in lieu of any of my partners assets?

Is there any move to get these jackels out of the system? Local councillors are responsible for the use of these agencies? what about local MPs?

    Any enough of a rant

    cheers

    Dale

Rather unsurprisingly, the bailiff is lying. The fact that you have been living with your partner "for a while" is irrelevant and furthermore the law clearly states that it is an offence to levy excessively, although I suspect that now bailiffs are involved, your partner is unlikely to be facing a bill of just £30.

By all means write to your local MP and also involve the local authority, which is vicariously liable for the actions of its agents.
