  • Marston Group Limited? Unsure as to what this is for or what i should do?

Wondering if someone can help me, please?
I went on my phone today and had a shock. My
bank app showed 2 notifications of transactions that had failed. Both from “Marston Group Limited” one was for £280 then about 30 minutes later they tried to take £200 and I’m really concerned about this as from a quick google it’s for debt collection. They tried to take funds from my credit card which I found odd, but also, I haven’t had any letters from them or any other company to say I owe anything. I am aware that previous tenants who lived here owed a lot of money as I have had debt collectors at this house and plenty of letters from various companies asking for payments.

I do have debts myself but just credit card related which I’m working on, I have never missed any payments for anything and everything is up to date, council tax, tv license, electric & water, etc. I checked my credit report and there are no missed payments and I have always kept up to date with everything.

Due to me being concerned I changed my card number and reported fraud as I have no idea what this is for or who they were till I googled them.

    Hi JAMES4049

    Welcome to LB

If you are 100% sure that it's nothing on your side.

Send them a Subject Access Request, they have 30 days to provide all the data they hold on you.

When they comeback with 'nothing', lodge a formal complaint with them.

Then you can lodge a complaint with the ICO.

That is what you would expect from a bank. Their responsibility is to protect you from loss by fraud, not to investigate possible crime.

How they got your card details, I'm not sure, I don't want to speculate, but Marstons deal with a lot of Council stuff i.e. Council Tax, etc.

Name and address and birthdate should be 'sufficient'. If they want more, then deal with that then (post on the thread).

You should be able to build a picture of what transpired that attempts were made to obtain money from card.
