  • Bailiffs sent out to collect council tax

Can the council send out bailiffs for unpaid council tax without proving who is liable to the council tax in question?

    Hi Questioner

There would of been letters sent so you can challenge the Council on who is responsible.

But leaving it until bailiffs is risky as things have kicked into gear.

What you need to do is contact the Council by phone and letter to state that an error has been made and to recall the account.

You need to send a letter to the bailiffs stating that the Council has been informed of the error.
