My friend has been contacted by Marston's that she has a debt in her name at her address (which isn't disputed) but this is the first time she has seen any notice of missed payment.
The local council have admitted the postcode on the missed payment letters was wrong and this may be why she hasn't been receiving any notification.
She has offered a payment plan regardless of the address mistake but Marston's have refused to accept any payment plan and demanded full payment immediately.
She lives with children on her own and the Bailiff was, and I quote "an evil **** who couldn't care less what I said" and was called a liar on multiple occasions.
What can be done? She is willing to accept the debt and pay it back but cannot in one payment. The council have washed their hands of accepting any payment stating it must be done through Marston's, whose reputation seems to be proceeding them.
