Is there a statutory time limit on bringing criminal proceedings against someone for theft by deception? Does any time limit start from when the crime was committed or from when it was discovered?

There is generally no statutory time limit for prosecuting indictable offences (serious offences with trial by jury in the crown court)

There is a time limit of 6 years for a claimant to start a claim against the defendant for fraud. The 6 years starts running when the fraud is discovered
