Good evening,
I left a £500 deposit for a car at BMW in March 2020, but was unable to complete the purchase. The salesman at the time agreed to refund the deposit back but then COVID-19 lockdown hit. The dealership has since changed hands from one franchise to another, and although it took me a few months to realise I hadn’t been refunded the balance, I contacted the branch directly and the original salesman passed the case over to the new franchisee. I’ve had a few emails with a manager in their accounts team who asked for numerous details on the case, most of which I’d already given, and also evidence of the interest my credit card has applied to this balance since then. I last emailed them on 3rd February 2021 with the details they wanted and my bank details (I wasn’t keen on that) and advised them that if it wasn’t resolved within 7 days, I would be looking at following a legal path to reclaim the money, interest incurred and any other costs.
I have emailed them this evening, reminding them the refund has still to be repaid, advised that as a new credit card statement has been generated the interest will have increased and that I am seeking legal advice tomorrow to move forward with the matter.
Can anyone advise if I’m better having a solicitor draft me something up or is it something I can do myself?
