Where do I stand in regards to claiming back my car from someone who wont give it back the car is on a finance deal ...he has the Car log book in his name I have the agreement in mine.....thanks

So this was an "accommodation deal", which whilst not illegal per se has probably involved fraud.
Fraudulent because in applying for finance you probably stated you would be the registered keeper, owner and main driver of the vehicle, when it is now clear you weren't.
I understand some finance houses allow deals so long as the borrower is a named driver on the insurance.
If the police even bother to investigate, when they discover the registered keeper is your ex and he explains it is "his" vehicle'cos you gave it to him, they will shrug their shoulders and say it is a civil matter.
Are you looking to terminate the finance agreement? If so what sort of agreement is it?
