  • Welcome Finance Agreements

    Advice required please!

9 years ago (2008) I purchased a vehicle through Welcome Finance & after 12 months I found I was struggling financially., & wanted to return the vehicle in order to cancel the agreement. I contacted Welcome Finance & they decided to change the agreement from 'Hire Purchase' to a 'Personal Loan' so they could add it to an existing personal loan I also had with them, therefore making it one financial agreement. In total the 'personal loan' then stood at approx' £12,000.......

In 2010 I then met more financial difficulties & so contacted Welcome again, but the local branch had closed & they failed to reply to my correspondence. I then noticed they were in liquidation through various media outlets, so I cancelled the Direct Debit whilst waiting for a reply to my final correspondence, which never arrived. After a few months I then received a letter from IND stating that they now owned the debt & for me to make repayment arrangements with them. I replied stating that the vehicle was still at my property waiting for Welcome to collect it but I got no response. Since then I have been receiving annual statements from Welcome Finance, & still do to date. In 2013 IND issued me with a county court judgement at Northampton CC regardless of my protest against Welcome Finance & their business practices etc. The judgement was found in their favour (surprise surprise) & now I am told that the matter has been referred to Manchester CC for further judgement, probably to obtain a means test etc.

I would be very grateful if anyone can offer me any advice with this matter as the debt has now risen to £14,500 & I am beside myself with worry.

    Thanking you in advance...
