  • DWP claiming I owe money for the fifth time, I do not owe it! Help!!

Hello forum, can any one help me please?

I have had numerous letters from the DWP claiming I owe money from years back, these are quite common nowadays.
I have now paid back four of these suspect loans that I never believed I owed because when I was on benefits years ago I never received a full giro as I was always paying back a loan for almost the entire time I claimed benefits.
They have sent me four letters now and because I am busy working and cannot be bothered with the hellish nightmare of months of back and forth with them and seeking expensive legal advice I have paid them, £305, £65, £79, and £150 without disputing it.

The last one they did a direct earnings attachment and took the whole amount from my salary. Now I get another letter saying I owe £249, and I cannot just continue letting them milk my bank account whenever they feel like it, and get away with it.

I do not owe this money, and at this point this blatant theft and fraud will probably continue forever as they clearly are taking the piss now, and it will continue for as long as I pay it, which I cannot stop with the direct earnings attachment they do now.

Please help what can I do?
    I live in London. UK

Have you thought about putting in an appeal and complaint through the DWP (and taking it to the ICE if they do not give you proof of the debt)??
    info here - https://www.gov.uk/government/organi...ints-procedure

You will need to ask for a full breakdown of the debt they say you owe. Proof of any payments you've made in the past would be good if you can get it too (maybe ask your bank for past statements that show the money being paid etc...)

A meeting with your local CAB and MP might be in order too
