  • Pre regulated mortgages

Hello, I'm a newbie on here. I wondered if anyone has any advice on a mis sold mortgage claim prior to the 2004 regulation. I had a mortgage with Birmingham Midshires arranged by a broker( all mortgages with them were arranged via brokers) The Broker has now gone out of business, and I have been advised by FCA that the broker was not registered at all anywhere. Birmingham Midshires provided me with a registration number for the Broker, this has never existed. I'm wondering where I could possibly find out the criteria that Mortgage lenders used pre 2004 to determine whether a Broker is suitably qualified to arrange mortgages, and whether the lender would be liable for negligence.
