Hi there. A friend has recommended this site to me to get some advice. I was wondering if anyone maybe able to advice me on how to raise funds for my dogs vet bills. Unfortunately he has severe allergies and his insurance after 5 years no longer are willing to treat him. My vet has recommended that he be put to sleep but I can not bear the thought of being without him. I know that sounds selfish but he has seen me through some very hard times and I know that if I had the money the vet would not be recommending this course of action. So with that in mind I need to know I have done everything in my power to save my best mate and friend. I have heard of crowdfunding but don't really know how that works and I lead a very reclusive lifestyle although I don't really think I need to go into that my "problems" here it means that I don't have anyone around that can help me financially or mean that I am able to work or get any kind of loan so any advice on how to raise funds for an ongoing health complaint for my pet dog I would be very grateful to receive. Thank you very much people.

Re: hello
HI Kati, thank you for taking the time to respond to this post. Did you want information about my dogs condition? His name is Nossy and he is a 9 year old Staffi bull terrier. He has such a lovable and gentle temperament and a real caring and calm animal. As I have mentioned he has severe allergic reactions to grass, dust, normal dog food and flees. As it is almost impossible to keep him away from such things he comes up in blisters and sores all over his body which then become infected. I did managed to keep his condition in order when the insurance paid for monthly shots that were synthesized from his DNA to control his reaction to the allergies but they are no longer willing to keep up the cost of this pre existing condition as it costs £1500 per year. It has now been 4 months since his last shot and his whole body is very sore and blistered and he has a large abscess in his ear and is very uncomfortable with it all. I have taken him to the PDSA twice and they have given him antibiotics and steroids but my own vet has said they are very substandard medications for his condition which I can understand as it is a free service but does little to help Nossy in the short or longterm. I have also contacted the RSPCA who did fund one visit to a local vets and she gave him Tramadol for the pain and a couple of antibiotic shots but the RSPCA are also unable to give long term funding. If you need any other information please ask. Thanks.
