  • Car Insurance

I live on a Greek Island, there are a number of UK cars here that have been here twelve months or longer. There seems a way of getting a MOT by post and taxing the vehicle on line, then getting insurance from a UK company. My question is, how valid is the insurance?

      Re: Car Insurance

There seem to be a way of getting a proper MOT from a dodgy garage, not worried myself as I have a Greek registered car which is all legal. More concerned as these people think their insurance is valid.

I suspect their insurance is not valid and one of my friends is doing this and I do not want to see him in trouble. I have told them, just because you have the documents does not mean you are covered, falling on deaf ears. I know in the UK if you are a resident you must re register you foreign car, suspect it is the same across EU.

I haven't cjecked the accuracy of this site, but the content sounds reasonable http://www.greecebuyingguide.com/con...y-start-finish

As the MOT will not be valid (as it has been obtained fraudulently), and if the insurers discover this they will almost certainly void the policy.
If, due to legislation, they have to pay damages to a third party, they will then be able to pursue the insured to recover their payout.

IMO your friends are just plain bloody stupid,!

Only one, but there are plenty here using UK registered cars illegally, some are most likely sorned.
