Small claim summons from capquest who I have never heard off

Can anyone help please
i have recieved a summons for Greenock sheriff court from capquest investments limited for sum of £1654.19 for shop direct dated March 2013 also said I have Broken a contract with shop direct since Dec 2009
i have not have any letters or heard off capquest till I have had a hand delivered summons
I have contacted shoosmith LLP solicitors by telephone was told I can pay a settlement how can this be if am going to court in 17th Jan due to having learning difficulties I am not good with reading and writing and explaining maself can anyone tell me what I can do please

Have you ever had an account with Littlewoods or the like, if so can you remember when you last made a payment on the account, do you know if this 'debt' is on your Credit File.
