    Just received a alleged Microsoft alert regarding a virus that may be posting detail of credit /debit cards details to hackers.

    Gave a phone number to call and what amounts to a threat, " call this number now or we will be forced to disable your computer to prevent damage to our systems.

    Any ideas if this is fact or is it a " ransom " threat.

      spoof dont answer it or give them any details, has it locked your PC. run windows defender and mailware bytes.
      crazy council ( as in local council,NELC ) as a member of the public, i don't get mad, i get even

        Yes @charitynjw it was.

        Antivirus and spyware scan show no problems.

            you have spyware on your pc, Is it windows 10 and what browser you using
