  • Help with welcome finance

I only just realised that I did take out a large loan with Welcome back in 2002 and was as was the practice when purchasing a car back then forced into getting ppl as a condition of the transaction. At one point during the repayment I was off work due to heart attack and got into trouble with my payments however I was only told sometime later after I had caught up that I could have had my payments made for me. Can someone please help me and explain the process I need to take to reclaim my payments as I would hate to get ripped off again on this by using a reclaim company. Cheers Paul

    Re: Help with welcome finance

    Hello Paul, welcome to LB,

Loan Started 2002, when did payments cease or are you still paying?
Was payment protect insurance actually suitable for your situation e.g. ineligible as you were self employed?
If you were told you must take PPI that's unfair any way.

You would need to write to Welcomes HO and I would suggest writing to the Data Controller as you are no doubt aware Welcome no longer trades and exists only to collect debts.

Welcome used to sell PPI as a loan condition, or put up the interest rate to make the same amount of money on the loan, it was also a key performance indicator. Staff bonuses were based on these. There are reclaim letters in the file. More experienced beagles will be along soon to advise
