  • BA flight delay compensation

Hi, I recently got delayed for just over 4 hours on a BA flight. I was told that i could to claim compensation from 3 different BA representatives at the airport, as it was the fault of the airline. I have since put the claim forward and have been knocked back. They have advised me to contact the airport itself to see if they can help.

Has anyone had similar experience? Can I pursue the claim and if so, who should I direct the claim to?

BA have said because we were delayed due to the transfer bus being late, that it is the fault of the airport rather than the airline. I've contacted Heathrow and that have said that the blame lit's with BA.

    I'm confused!!

You need to decide if you want to take them on in court on your own or via a no win no fee solicitor. The latter will want around 25-30% of your compensation but nothing if you lose. I used the no win no fee against Virgin and won but it took 18 months and a lot of perseverance. I would never been able to do it without them.

Hi, I've been advised to take it to the Ombudsman. If no luck with them, I'll go down the no win no fee like you've suggest. I believe I have a strong case.

        Thanks

Good luck. It's the CAA you need to contact however from my experience they in the airlines pockets when it comes to this. I received advice that my case was strong by the CAA only to be told 48 hours later this information was incorrect. I ended up contacting 90 passengers from my flights who's numbers I had got during the delay and we got a combined £50k compensation. My one claim to fame. good luck, they will try everything apart from doing the right thing.

Wow that's amazing you certainly didn't give up!!! I don't suppose you have a copy of the letter that you sent? Unfortunately I didn't get any numbers from any of the other passengers but there was 4 of us travelling together. Looks like I might have to go the CAA route if BA refuse to compensate
