Hi i paid £1000 deposit to buy a motorhome.
Due to it taking longer than we hoped to get the money, the seller has pulled out and is refusing to refund our deposit.
Where do we stand as the money we were expecting was from a house sale and the chain collapsed so was out of our control.
We have since taken out a re mortgage but the seller isn't interested.
    Appreciate any advice.

    Hi

Do you have the paperwork between you and the seller, any terms/reasons for them keeping the deposit will be in them.

        Re: Deposit

As above, any paperwork would be useful and whether this is a private seller or a business.

Putting down a deposit forms a legally binding contract and the only way to get out of that and not have your money back is if there were any specific terms that time was of the essence. If there wasn't then either the seller has to follow through with the sale or return your deposit, as he/she is currently in breach of contract.

I think he in turn has brought something and is out of pocket so says he is keeping our deposit.
So if that is allowed i could take a deposit for something today and 2 days later pull out?
          Surely that can't be allowed

Also the money we were expecting was through a house sale but the chain collapsed so was out of our control.
We were prepared to wait but he isn't.
