This was mine and my partners second year with tradewise. We recently purchased a van from auction and fixed it (first van purchase, normally only cars). It was stolen. We put in a claim. Tradewise started digging into the our company's activities, which is understandable, and asked for some documentation for a few things... I hadn't received the letter... got a call saying that they are in the middle of doing the cancellation letter because I hadn't sent them what they had asked for.. I did inform the lady that I hadn't received the letter. She said speak to your broker. As soon as I got the email I gave them what was asked for. everything was in order... most documents are in my partners name.they are now telling me that he is my employee and they are not reinstating my policy.. the mistake that I made was didn't insist on them giving me my policy documents when I renewed it. Hardly anyone is willing to give us a quote because of the label that has been put on us.

1) did the insurer declare the policy void from inception, or cancel it during currency?
2) was this action by the insurers before or after they were notified of the theft?
2) what was exact reason given in writing for cancelling/voiding policy?
3) did that reason have any actual bearing on the theft of the vehicle?
4) what have your brokers had to say about this, and were they in any way responsible.
I would have expected Tradewise (who are only brokers themselves) to have dealt with you through you broker.
Did your broker fail to communicate with you?
You might have a case initially to appeal to FOS, (but only after you have exhausted the insurer's complaints process) if the reason for cancellation had no bearing on the claim.
If your broker failed to communicate with you, you might have a case against them.
However need a lot more accurate detailed info, backed up by documentation if possible, before going further

They have cancelled it.
They took action after I notified them of the theft. They haven't given anything in writing yet. I only have what they gave me before I gave them the documents. They haven't given me the final cancellation reason in writing. The reason that another broker has told me when they rang to find the reason was that it was fraud. (Using my name for someone else's use).
My brokers weren't very bothered and we had to keep bugging them ... made me feel like a worthless liar. Kept delaying by saying that I'll let you know tomorrow... for two weeks roughly. The brokers knew that he was a partner yet the insurers said that the brokers confirmed that he was an employee.
Now the broker has said that if we take back the claim he could get us some money back.
We tried to get insurance else where but quotes were coming up roughly £5000- £6000.
Our broker managed to get us a policy with tradex for £2800.

It was a straight renewal of an existing policy, or was it a new policy with a new proposal?
Inception date of policy:dd/mm/2016
Date of theft dd/mm/2016
effective date of cancellation dd/mm2016
Do you have a copy of the proposal you could post up?
Do you have a copy of the policy schedule you could post up?
Both suitably redacted.
Te reason for asking is because of the importance to insureds who make an error of the Consumer Insurance (Disclosure and Representations) Act 2012
