My local authority accessed drivers records without using an authorisation code for the DVLA website. Although they now claim this practise has now ceased and request a code, I still think we should make a complaint. We have been told to take the matter to the police but feel it would not be followed through even though as far as I am aware this is a criminal offence? Although it my sound trivial just what else may this local authority be doing underhandedly?

    Re: Data Protection

Can you provide some background as to why they are accessing your driver records, does it relate to an offence like a PCN?

I am also presuming when you mean code you are referring to the code that allows you to share driver information which expires after 21 days?
If you have a question about the voluntary termination process, please read this guide first, as it should have all the answers you need. Please do not hijack another person's thread as I will not respond to you

Yes that's the code I'm reffering to, at one time we had to pay around £6 by cheque which allowed an authorised third party to do it. Last year we did not have to pay and people just assumed the charge had been scrapped. What we did not know was we were filling in a form giving our driving licence number and I think NI number. The local authority took it upon themselves to log in as though they were the drivers themselves. We are all licensed taxi drivers. I have an email from my local authority admitting that they accessed mine without a code, which I knew they had as I had never provided one.
