  • Part time and redundancy

My wife has just agreed a flexible working arrangement with her employer that will involve her moving to 80% salary. She has not yet signed to finalise the agreement. The employer has subsequently announced that my wife's division is up for sale. The risk of redundancy is high. Will any redundancy payments be based on her 80% salary? Is there anything she can do to ensure her redundancy payment would be based on her 100% salary?

    Re: Part time and redundancy

    Just a thought.

Why not negotiate a 'trial' period of 6 (or better,12) months in the new position, with the option of reverting back to the 100% position within the trial period?

The firm would then benefit by paying the 80% & it covers any detriment to your OH should the redundancy happen.
