  • Debt Managers (Services) Ltd & Cabot Credit Management - SKY

    Hello,

I am hoping somebody can advise what I need to do.

On the 8th April my wife received a letter out of the blue from Debt Managers (Services) Limited stating they were attempting to contact the named person and that if they received no response within 7 days, they would assume the link is correct and that a further communication would be made.

That further communication arrived this morning (25th April) stating that she owes £375.74 and must ring the company to discuss repayment arrangements. The letter states 'As you have been advised by our client Cabot Credit Management, your overdue account has been referred to us for collection'.

The letter refers the amount due to: Cabot Credit Management - Sky - Communications

So first of all, we have never received any letters or calls from a Cabot Credit Management. The first we have heard about this is the first letter from Debt Managers a couple of weeks ago. As the 'amount due to' section suggests, I can only assume at this stage that this 'debt' has something to do with Sky.

We first got Sky (in my wife's name) back in November 2007 when we moved into our new house. Then, when we moved into our current house in March 2010, she phoned and had the contract switched to the new house. Like we did for council tax notification, electoral role etc. The contract was never cancelled. We (to our knowledge) have never missed a payment to them but if we had, I assume that we would have received a notification from our bank and also a letter from sky. We have never been disconnected so I assume everything is fine. We pay every month. The only contact we have from sky is when they try to sell us upgraded packages etc.

When my wife gets home, I will need her to contact SKY to understand what this is about.

My wife has a very common name - could this be a case of mistaken identity?

We shortly want to remortgage but are now worried that this could create a black mark on her record.

What should I do? What should I write back to Debt Managers (services) Limited?

Any help would be greatly received?

    Thanks

    James
