  • Copyright Theft?

    Hello

I am seeking some advice regarding my images being used without my knowledge by another business for the purpose marketing and business/client procurement.

I have evidence of this happening and as a professional photographer I was most shocked to find a competitor using my images (hard copies) and passing them off as their own.

I am still ascertaining how they were acquired in the first place as I do not believe the reason I was given by this other individual, therefore I would initially like to find out if this is a copyright infringement and if so what should I now do to ensure this stops and the other person understands this is not allowed.

Images taken or created by a photographer belong to that photographer until 70 years after the photographer's death.
There are some exceptions- i.e if you were employed or contracted to take those images then they belong to whoever paid you and there are one or two other special conditions but in this case they probably belong to you and cannot be used in any capacity without your permission.
