Hi
I have a question on a section 21 notice.
Our Assured Shorthold Tenancy Agreement expired on the 28th of March. We have contacted the estate agent (who acts on behalf of a private landlord) to renew it for a further 6 months. They replied that they couldn't get hold of the landlord to obtain approval for a new tenancy agreement.
Today, 21st of April, they hand delivered a section 21 notice at 6 pm, indicating that the property needs to be vacated by 21st June.
Is the notice valid? What is our legal status in relation to the house at present, considering that we don't have a contract?
In terms of rent, I have paid until the 28th of April. I now intend to look for another property and pay rent until I vacate this one, but can my present landlord ask me to pay rent until 21st of June, the date indicated in the notice?
Many thanks!
