My friend was moving house and took one days leave, however the move did not go well and they did not get into their new home until 5pm. The removal men offloaded beds but said they would have to come back in the morning. The next morning my friend found she had no change of clothes, her phone was dead and the removal van was due back a few hours later. As her iPad was working she e mailed her boss at 6am to tell him of her problem and say she could not get to work that day. She was on good terms with her boss. On her return the next day she was handed a letter saying that she had broken the terms of her T&Cs and there would be a disciplinary meeting the following week. A week after this she had a second meeting to be given a first and final written warning. Surely this is a bit harsh. She had only been there just over a year and had previously been asked to go full time which she was not keen to do. I think they are looking for an excuse to get rid of her. Can they do this?
