20 years old debt....without proven docs...

  • 20 years old debt....without proven docs...

    Dwp has asked my employer to deduct money from me for a debt that they say is from 1996, and they cant provide me with the signed(by me) giros,can they do that? How can i stop this? Need help ........already taken £120 this week......what do i do????

    DWP have to prove you owe them the money before they can take any money from your wages (ie garnishing). Did they prove this at court and did they get a court order from the County Court to this effect?
