What shall I write to them as a reason?

You might like to remove your registration number from the photo on the PCN.

If that sign next to the gates bans certain vehicles at certain times from Cavendish Road, and if your vehicle is included in a banned class, what reason do you have for challenging the PCN?

I note from Google that at one time Cavendish Road was made a "no through road" at certain times of the day.
If you were used to that system, and had not noticed that the signs had changed but that the gates were still in position, you might have a slim chance of leniency.

For years Cavendish Ave and Fairlawn Drive have been no through roads between 7.30 -10am and 4.30-7pm, but were gated at those times. Recently Redbridge have removed the gates and installed cctv plus new signs with the same restriction times. It was a cost saving measure (don't have to pay someone to open and close the gates 4 times a day) with the added bonus they are coining it in with pcn's.

Although the gap is inviting, the signs are pretty clear. I can't see any grounds for appeal

I got issued with two PCNs on same November evening at same spot as I drove to and fro in a space of 5 minutes. I did not see the signs as it was dark at 16.30 after dark. I don't know to appel these. Any idea?
