• Welcome Finance HP with PPI help

Hi sorry if this is in the wrong place - first time.

Okay so I had Welcome finance back in April 2002, I defaulted and they sold the debt to DLC Direct Legal and Collections in Northants. Last statement I got form them was end of 2009.

I 100% had PPI with welcome as I remember being told I had to have it to get the finance (rage) I got into so much stress back then that really makes me angry about how horrible welcome acted. In the end I VT my agreement - welcome as you would expect made that as difficult as possible.

My question is - do I have any chance in claiming anything back. I have contacted welcome - they just say they have no record of me.. weird... I have not contacted the DLC company - is there any point and what would I say if I was to contact them?

I don't have the original paperwork, but I do have all the account numbers and dates. Just not sure what to do next.

Any help would be amazing.

Thanks

Sj

I'll give nemesis45 another shout for you.

In the meantime when did you last hear from DLC?

It sounds like it could be statute barred, when did you last pay anything?

How much was and is the debt now?

Do you have any idea how much PPI you would have paid?

Good morning,
Unfortunately a company is only obliged to archive records for six years After an account is closed.
Welcome's paperwork was appalling much disappeared when the branches were closed down it's
possible that your agreement vanished at that point.

There is only a slim chance but a Subject Access Request under the provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998
may have some success.

There's a £10 statutory fee for this and Welcome has 40 days to comply. This should be addressed to The Data Controller at Welcome.

A template for this can be found in the forum library.

Use signed for post.

You have the advantage of having the account details.

As EXC has said I to think that a claim will be statute barred.

For information DLC now trades as Hillesden Securities Ltd T/A DLC and is part of the Cabot Credit Management
Group of companies.

Was this an Hire Purchase Account?

Send this complaint to Aviva who have responsibility for Welcome PPI sales in this 2002 period. Aviva will do all this donkey work for you and find out how muvh PPI you paid, if any, before your agreement defaulted.
Even if still in arrears with any Collections firm, Aviva will refund any PPI you paid.

Complex claims need knowledge! We take from the Greedy and give back to the Needy!
