  • Working a week in hand

Could someone please help my husband, when he started work he had to work a week in hand and he was paid weekly. So when he handed in his notice, he expected 2weeks wages his final pay. His first week and and the last week he had worked but no, they say it's a rolling wage but when did he get the first week he worked as if it's carried forward each week he is always out of pocket one week. Could someone please advise.
He finished work to look after me as I am very poorly

When did he leave? Maybe they'll pay it next week.

Have been there. If you work a week in hand, ie you work two weeks before you are paid then the final pay will be the following week after you finish work.

Agreed with above. If last week was his final week working he will get paid a weeks pay this week, to cover his week in hand!

Absolutely agree with others. Many people do not understand the week in hand process so you are not alone. Quite frankly many employers do not explain it well
If you get paid weekly on a friday with a week in hand
Start Mon 1st get paid for that week on Friday 12th , for the week starting 8th you get paid Friday 19thth. If you then leave on friday 26th you will receive a payment on Friday 26th for the week that started on Mon 15th and then another payment on the Friday after you have left
