  • Does DBS check reveal debts to debt collecting agencies?

I have had a £600 debt to a UK network operator. I got this debt by using roaming charges while abroad; i did not realize that my internet allowance on my contract was only valid in UK so i used it away. First, the roaming charges were about £200 but since i didn't pay it, with time it got up to £600 and my network operator sold my debt to a debt collecting agency. I got many warnings from them about potentially going to court which i just ignored. They sent me e-mails as well up to a point but eventually stopped and it's been over 1.5 year since i last got anything from them. Could this come up on my DBS check, and if yes, will this prevent me from getting a job for which DBS check is required? Thank you in advance.

    Hi and welcome.
    Cease worrying.

DBS checks only bring up criminal matters. a DBS (Disclosure and Barring Service) check is a record of an individual's unprotected Convictions, Cautions, Reprimands and Warnings and can also include intelligence held by the police and/or the DBS that relates to that individual and their suitability for a job position.

Debt is only a civil matter, and yours hasn't even reached County Court.
