Help With Esa Payments!!

Hi People I,m New To all This so please bare With Me..

My Question is That i have Been On Esa Since 30th October 2015.. This Is due To Severe Depression... Since That Date i Have been in receipt Of 73 pounds Per Week..

Today I received A letter Stating That My Money will Increase To £125.00 per week From the 5th of Feb 2016.

Will i Be back payed the higher Rate from the 30th Of october?

so ... you've been receiving the assessment rate up to now?
Have you now been put into the WRAG (Work Related Activity Group) or the Support Group?

If your "assessment phase" has lasted longer than 13wks, you'll be entitled to backdated payments from week 14 up to date (but not for the first 13 weeks) - https://www.gov.uk/employment-suppor...what-youll-get

Letter Says that you have been placed in the support Group.

What i cant understand is that, last year i was on esa for 7 month until i saw Gov doctor & passed assessment, within Days i was backdated for full 7 month. On the occasion i have not even seen the gov doctor unlike last year..

I think that I was right with my first comment (although I'll ask others for an opinion too). However, in the meantime (other Beagles might add extra advice) ... please feel free to come back at any time if you have any problems (I know a lot of ESA (SG) claimants are being coerced into work trials etc...).

There will be no back dating , you will get this from 5th Feb
What has happened is that they have looked at your claim form and possibly your last assessment and placed you in the support group

Can I ask why you came off ESA last year?

It may be worth asking for the two claims to be linked if they are for the same condition

Yeah sure You can Ask... Unfortunately I got a 12 month sentence in jail.. served 6 month.. Silly billy I know

I am still under the same mental health help as i was before.

Sorry I didn't mean to rake up old troubles. That will certainly explain the gap in ESA. I also think it will go a long way to explaining why you got put into the support group

If you want my opinion, the law is an ass, I just hope you got some help while you were 'away'

It may be worth checking to see if the claim can be linked , I am not sure how the linking rules apply, I fear that because you do not fit in a bureaucratic box you may find it difficult but there is no harm in trying.

Have you applied for any other benefits such as PIP. I appreciate the rules are very different and PIP is very difficult to get under mental health conditions but no harm in trying.

You might want to edit out your reasons for the break in the claim as sadly there are some very judgemental people on forums, not met any on here yet but there are on other ones.
