  • Private sale of car, what are my rights as car faulty/

    I have just bought a renault espace and drove it home yesterday. Today the brakes warning lights came on and wont go off . I~ fix will be a minimum of £300 . I paid cash to the seller i need a erfund or repair do i have any rights please . I am aware that there are few and caveat emptor applies . Di @i have the right to a refund .

    The only legal terms that cover a private sale contract are:

    If you buy privately
    • the seller must have the right to sell the car
    • the vehicle should match the description given by the seller
    • the car must be roadworthy - it is a criminal offence to sell an unroadworthy car and an MOT certificate from a test several months ago is no guarantee that the car is roadworthy today.
