My mortgage finished in 2010 but have rung my bank to ask if I had been paying PPI and was told No.
Should I believe them or not ?

Good evening, welcome to LB.

Personally I would say no don't trust them.
To be absolutely sure make a Subject Access Request under the
provisions of the Data Protection Act 1998, this requires the recipient
to supply all the personal data it holds on you which would include
PPI policies and payment records.

The is a Statutory Fee for the request of £10.00 the request should be
addressed to the Data Controller at the banks Head Office Address.
Use signed for post and check delivery date.

The bank has 40 days to comply.

As soon as possible, maximum 40 days.

(I emailed them the other day - got an automated acknowledgement & was told they would reply in 14 days.
