Our company is giving written warnings to employees who call in sick without a 24 hour notice. How can you know if you are going to be sick 24 hours earlier

    Precogntion?
Have you seen any of the written warnings?
If the Company doesn't want to appear unreasonable I would expect the warning letters to at least include an explanation of how their employees could go about acquiring this type of extra sensory perception.

      Employers sometimes do daft things.
I wouldn't worry too much about this unless they escalating matters by adding other penalties.

I would highly recommend that you study the company's disciplinary procedures. When I was in management we had to adhere to the co's procedures, failure to do so would invalidate any disciplinary actions which may have been taken. Absenteeism was part of the procedures we had, and all employers should have one in place and available for all employee to see or a copy of which should be given to you ( request one). If there is not one then they will fall foul of the employment rules if even taken to a tribunal. First obtain a copy of the disciplinary procedures, then stick to it. May be you will be required to phone in before 2 hours prior to your shift staring etc. If you have been given a warning( verbal, formal first, second etc check that all relevant procedures have been followed, otherwise appeal. Make sure that all are recorded, for defence purposes if ever required, and that you are a given a written copy of any action taken against you. Let us know how you get on.
