      Re: Hello

I was in an IVA with Grant Thornton which I received my certificate of completion in July 2014.
I was told to sign 11 or so ppi investigation paperwork for SLATER LAW. When I called I was told I "had to sign as part of my iva" even though I had completed. .......
I have consequently received approximately 4 or 5 cheques from previous creditors in completion of my claim (all of them knowing I was being represented by a ppi company).....not my choice though! With monies I have paid into my bank (and spent!)
About a month ago I received 4 letters all the same and all referring to the same creditor saying they have agreed to pay out and any cheque should be ready directed to shl. This is the first notification that I should pay any monies back to them as in all intense and purposes I have completed my iva. I received today a call from them asking if I have received a cheque from an old creditor and I told them no. Upon checking my bank I did in July 2015.
Can anyone help me in regards as in what to do please. I have no credit as I haven't started to rebuild it. I am not a home owner and have no equity anywhere. Thanks for reading.

            Re: Hello

PPI after an IVA is a difficult issue, see this article which looks at a recent case which is going to Appeal in May 2016: http://debtcamel.co.uk/ppi-claims-after-iva/

before your IVA completed, were you asked to sign a variation to the IVA? GT asked many people in an IVA to sign these in 2013. If you did, this will probably have given GT the right to collect PPI after a completion certificate is issued.

GT then sent a lot of people with completed IVAs the SLH letter earlier this year. I wrote this article about this: http://debtcamel.co.uk/gt-ppi-letters-after-iva/

Whether you had to sign will depend on whether you had previously agreed to a variation about PPI.

If you did NOT agree to any such variation, it could be argued that you didn't need to sign these letters and you may have been misled into signing them. You may want to consider taking legal advice about your situation if there is a lot of money involved.

If you did sign a PPI variation then the Green v Wright case is not going to help you at all and it is likely you will need to talk to GT about making an arrangement to repay the PPI you were incorrectly sent.

It will be interesting to see if any other beagles comment, but this is a very niche area of law.

              Re: Hello

Thank you. I will have to check what paperwork I have (as they are very sporadic in what they send me) Also even without checking my paperwork I know I was made to sign the ppi paperwork with slh insinuating my iva completion would not stand. Misleading...... (Unfortunately when you are not legally minded or represented you take their word)
