  • Provident Financial Loan company losing customers personal paying in books

    Hi Everyone,

Does anyone know of anyone who has, or had an account, with the Provident? And their personal paying in book has been "lost"
after being collected by an agent of the Provident for "auditing purposes."
Any information would be greatly appreciated.

All the best to everyone at legal beagles, Billy the Kid.

    Hello Billy,

I believe this has become quite common over the years, some " collected " books never reaching head office.

Have you contacted the district manager?

            Hello nem,

I have contacted the district manager as well as the head office in Bradford and have received letters in reply wanting the full amount of the debt, which I dispute, paid in full. After many letters going back and forth, I have suggested they take me to court. At this moment in time I have had no replies since I made the suggestion back in September.

I don't remember any conclusions, one I do remember from a few years back alleged fraud, money /payments in book but not on HO records but the customer had kept copies of each page before parting with it.

Were the payment made in cash?

I suggest without the book to hand they too cannot confirm any payments being made or not being made.

                    Thanks nem,

Like a fool I trusted the collecting agent. But I have told Provident until my original book is returned to me I will not be paying them another single penny as they are claiming I owe a figure that my original book, if found, would prove to be vastly incorrect.

Yes nem, always in cash. An agent I had never met before turned up unexpectedly on my doorstep, took my book for "audit purposes" and I have never seen it since.
I am absolutely certain I do not owe the amount they are claiming, and as I said I am refusing to pay another single penny until my original book is returned to me.
